  • Profile

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam. I completed my master’s in European Studies at the University of Gothenburg, where my thesis examined how openly gay ambassadors perform sexuality on the diplomatic stage. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Diplomatic and International Sciences at the University of Bologna.

At the University of Amsterdam, I am part of the Politics of Diversity research group and the Political Masculinities in Europe project. I study the experiences of openly gay male politicians and the role of masculinity in national parliaments across Europe.

Across my research, I aim at moving beyond Western (European) perspectives by incorporating scholarship and experiences from Central and Eastern Europe and the wider post-communist region. I am particularly interested in how this region is often overlooked in academic debates, including efforts to challenge Western-centered knowledge production, despite its distinct historical experiences and enduring East-West inequalities within Europe.
